The Festival of High School Musicals and Dramas begins in September of each year and runs through until June of the following year.  Local secondary schools are encouraged to enter their student productions in both drama and musicals into the Festival.  During their performances, our highly-qualified and entertaining adjudicator, Steven Thomas, attends a performance and provides feedback to the cast and crew in the form of a written adjudication and an hour-long workshop with the students and teachers.

This Festival culminates with a final Awards Gala, held annually in June.  At this Gala, each school presents either a musical number or dramatic scene from their show and the students receive Awards of Excellence, Unsung Hero Awards, Best Actor/Actress, Best Supporting Actor/Actress and the coveted Best Production Award.  The Awards Gala is open to the public with a $2 admission fee.

This valuable Festival continues to encourage our local secondary students to develop their dramatic craft, production talents and backstage work, lighting, sound and prop techniques, and gives them confidence and a sense of teamwork for their time together.
